Two Worlds Combine

Updated: Feb 5, 2020

It's nothing short of magical what Chef Shirley Chung creates at Ms Chi Cafe in Culver City. She is best known for competing and being runner up for season 14 of Bravo's culinary phenomenon, Top Chef. Shirley brings truly authentic Chinese food to the table with a satisfying surprise here and there. I brought a big group of people from NYC to help me dive into the tasty meal. The group was shocked on the authenticity of the meal, these are New Yorkers who go to get dim sum in Queens, quite often.

Of we course had to order Chef Shirley's Top Chef winning dish the Jumbo Cheeseburger Potstickers which came with a bacon tomato jam. I was blown away by the masterful combination, I may now prefer all my burgers to now come in potsticker form. These were juicy, sizzling, savory pockets of love. My mind is still blown. The next must have would be the Orange Chicken. Hands down the best orange chicken of my life. When we ordered it, I thought to myself "sounds boring, but a classic nonetheless". I was so wrong, this is the orange chicken that has been missing from your life. If you haven't had Shirley's you haven't had orange chicken.

Order every time:

Jumbo Cheeseburger Potstickers

Orange Chicken

Honorable mentions:

Wontons in Chili Oil

Peas & Carrots (dumplings)

Sauté pea shoots

Steak and broccoli

Honey walnut shrimp

Chicken chow mein
